Ronald "Ron" Grayson Cattlett passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on February 14, 2024, at the age of 91. He was born January 27, 1933, in Bessemer, AL to the late Samuel Alexander Cattlett and Rolandel Stroud Cattlett. He attended Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio, where he earned a degree in finance. He met and married the late Myrna Rose Humm in 1956, and the newlyweds traveled to San Antonio, TX while he served as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force. Following his military service, Ron and Myrna lived in Birmingham, AL before settling in Ft. Lauderdale, FL to raise their three children.
Ron worked for Crane Cams and worked his way to Vice President of the company prior to his retirement in 1972. In retirement, Ron and Myrna were avid travelers and were able to visit all seven continents throughout their lifetime. Ron loved the game of golf, fishing, boating, gardening, and fine dining. He was also a savvy investor and was found most weekdays watching the stock market ticker prior to the closing bell.
He was a devoted husband and caregiver to Myrna, who suffered with epilepsy throughout her lifetime. His most cherished memories were made spending time with family and friends during summers in the cool woods of Door County, Wisconsin or the mountains of North Carolina. He traded snow for the sandy beaches and warm winters of the US Virgin Islands or Gulf Shores, AL. He spent his final years in Huntsville, AL to be close to family.
He is survived by three children: son, Ronald H. Cattlett (Florence), and daughters, Cathie Bogue (Wayne) and Lee Seeley (Mark). He is also survived by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Poppy". He is also survived by his close feline companion of 18 years, Sox.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Epilepsy Foundation or the Alzheimer's Association.
