Ronald Benjamin "Ron" Chavez

Ronald Benjamin Chavez, known to family and friends as "Ron," passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026, surrounded by his family. A lifelong native of Fort Collins, Ron will be fondly remembered by many in the community.

Ron's viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 20th, 2026, from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at Vessey Funeral Service in Wellington - 8760 6th Street, Wellington, CO 80549.

Ron's burial will be held following the viewing, at 3:00 p.m., in the Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Collins - 2718 East Mulberry Street, Fort Collins, CO 80524.

Ron was born on August 15, 1950, to Selena and Benjamin Chavez. His deep roots in Fort Collins shaped the life he lived and the relationships he built, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him. Ron was known as a social light and a joker, always bringing laughter to those around him. He loved helping others, was deeply concerned for everyone's well-being, and lived life as a simple man with a big heart. Ron loved his family deeply, was an avid cheerer for the Alabama Crimson Tide, and greatly enjoyed good food.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Selena and Benjamin Chavez. Ron is survived by his two children: Brian Chavez of Fort Collins and Roxanne Chavez (Nate Johnson) of Colorado Springs. He is also survived by his brothers, Donald Chavez, with whom he shared a very close bond, and Matthew Chavez; and his sister, Adella Chavez. Ron leaves behind his cherished Shanell, Diallo, Ivaysha great grandson Zayveon. Step- Grandchildren Audrey, Aaron and step-great granddaughter Kaitlynn.
