Ronald Christ Obituary Ronald Henry Christ left this world peacefully on August 5th, 2023 at the age of 64, with his children beside him. He will be forever missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Ron "Ronnie" was born on January 23rd, 1959 in Middletown, Connecticut, to Claire (Cruickshank) Amirault and the late Henry A. Christ. He grew up in Salisbury and received his education from Triton Regional High School, where he excelled in basketball and track, holding the record for high jump for many years, and took great pride in being a Triton Viking. He was a dedicated employee of the Massachusetts commuter railroad for over 30 years, and a proud union member.
Deeply committed to his community, he remained connected to Salisbury and to Triton throughout his lifetime. He was devoted to coaching both basketball at Triton and indoor track at Beverly High School, and cared deeply for the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Merrimack Valley. Civic-minded, Ron ran for Selectman of Salisbury twice, served as Chairman of the Salisbury Conservation Commission, and championed the creation of the Salisbury rail trail bike path, wanting to create a place for children to bike and skate safely. He had a passion for the railroad, civil engineering and architecture, and model trains, an affinity for animals, and an enduring love of Christmas and old movies. Ron leaves a lifetime of wonderful memories with family at the cottage on Shaws Cove in Fairhaven.
Ron was the proud father of Jon Christ, Jessie Taylor and partner Hannah Cross, Charlie Christ and wife Kayla Savage, Julia Christ, and stepfather of Chelsea Volkers. He is survived by his mother, Claire Amirault, and his siblings Leslie Randall and husband Dennis, Lisa Bollinger and husband Erich, and Mark Christ and companion Pamela Dole. He was also stepbrother to the "stubbies": Kimberlee Girard, Paul Amirault and wife Amy, and Mark Amirault and wife Cameron. He was predeceased by his stepfather, David Amirault, and sister Darlene (Dee) Christ, for whom Ron was a kidney donor.
A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, August 15th, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Highland Cemetery in Newburyport. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Merrimack Valley (www.bgclmv.org) ~ Arrangements are entrusted to F. S. Roberts & Son Funeral Home ~
