Ronald Dame Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pierre Funeral Home on Dec. 12, 2025.
Ronald Lee Dame, 87, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the West River Health Campus.

Ron was born on December 24, 1937, in Flint, Michigan to the late Allen Hayes and Connie (Clayton) Dame. At the age of 4, Ron's family moved to Evansville where he attended Washington Grade School and graduated from Central High School in 1955. After high school, Ron attended Evansville College, now U of E, while working full time at Sears & Roebuck where he became a department manager. Ron graduated from Evansville College with a degree in Business in 1960 and was a member of the Lamda Chi Alpha fraternity.

Ron started his career at Faultless Caster in 1962 as a product manager. Six years later, Ron went to work for Springfield Wire as Plant Manager; he then moved to Chandler Industries as Marketing Manager before returning to Faultless Caster in 1977. Ron retired from Faultless in 1997 as the President and CEO of the company. Because he was so well known and respected in the caster world, after retiring from Faultless he was asked to help a struggling caster company, Shepherd Caster in St. Joe, Michigan. As President of Shepherd, he took a struggling company and made it successful again.

Ron was a longtime, devoted member of First Christian Church. He served on many of their boards and committees until March of 2025 and spearheaded the building of a new church building. In his younger years, Ron taught Sunday School to the youth of the church and later a senior class.

Ron volunteered with SCORE where he counseled clients who wanted to start their own small business. He also taught classes at Ivy Tech in "Starting a New Business". Ron was also very involved with the American Red Cross and was a lifetime board member. Serving as Past Board Chair, Disaster Service member, member of Chapter Solutions and Collaborations, Committee for Service Area 5 chair, Chapter Services for SWIN and served as the Interim Executive Director for SWIN. Ron served as the onsite, lead coordinator of six disasters.

Ron was a very kind, loving person. He always treated others with respect from the janitor to his executive staff which is why he was so loved and respected.

Surviving Ron are his wife of 35 years, Nancy (McAtee) Dame; two sons and their wives, Tony and Laurie Dame and Tim and Rhonda Dame; grandchildren, Sidney Waddington, Ashton Dame and Logan Dame; great grandchildren, Grayson, Olive and Myer; sister, Jo Masterson and brothers, Mike (Rita) Dame and Keith (Michelle) Dame. Ron is also survived by his stepfamily who he loved as his own; daughters and their husbands, Christy and Tom Wilson and Amanda and Jim Griese; and grandchildren, Allie, Charlie, and Amy Griese, Annabelle Wilson and Lindie Hansen. Also surviving Ron are two sisters-in-law, Geraldine Dame and Erin (Jim) Gidcumb and brothers-in-law, Kenny (Rita) McAtee and Carl Muensterman.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Bob Chambers; by brothers, Jim, Gary and Ed Dame; sister-in-law, Terry Muensterman and brother-in-law, Berlin Masterson.

Funeral services for Ron will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Jerry Clark officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
