Ronald DeLoy Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 31, 2025.
A memorial celebration, in the form of a DeLoy Bonfire, will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Ron's name to Vicksburg High School Lacrosse or Dan Bulley Soccer School (DBSS) in c/o the funeral home.
Known to many as "Big Ron", "Big D", husband, dad, grandpa, and as of recently great-grandpa, Ron, age 68, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Centrica Rose Arbor Place with his wife, Tamy, by his side. Ron was born February 27, 1956 in Jackson, MI to Louis "Lou" and Arline (Ingles) DeLoy.
On April 1, 1977 Ron married his high school sweetheart, Tamara "Tamy" (Wagner) DeLoy who survives. Also surviving are his son, Ronald "Ron" (Hope) DeLoy II; daughter, Jody (Nick) Simon; six grandchildren, Kasi (Jonathan Robinson) DeLoy, Kimi DeLoy, Kati (Jesse Peet) DeLoy, Damion Pettigrew, Nick Simon Jr., Jenna Simon; great-grandson, Keaton Robinson; and sister, Vicki Kirkland. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jim DeLoy and Lou DeLoy Jr.
Ron had an incredible work ethic that he passed on to all who knew him. If you needed help fixing something Ron would be by your side walking you through it because if he "did it for you, you'd never know how to do it yourself". Ron worked hard all his life and retired from the petroleum industry in 2017 after working in this field for 43 years. He also was an avid mechanic and was always working on someone's car or another project. Ron loved to read any chance he could. He also enjoyed camping in the north woods on the Muskegon River with life-long friends. Ron's favorite activity, however, was attending all his grandkids' sporting events making his presence known with his boisterous whistle.
