Ronald Lee Dever

Ronald Lee Dever, 83, of Ashland, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

He was born on June 11, 1942, in Ironton, Ohio, to the late James Dever and Roberta A. Maine. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert J. Dever.

Ron graduated from Rock Hill High School in 1961. Following graduation, he joined the Air Force Reserves, where he proudly served for ten years. He later began a 33-year career with the C&O Railroad. During his time there, he worked as a brakeman and eventually retired as an engineer.

Ron enjoyed being surrounded by others and was a lifetime member of the Elks. He found great joy in traveling, spending time outdoors, and collecting firearms. He shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Jake, whose companionship and unconditional love brought him daily comfort and happiness.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted partner of 50 years, David Lee Bush; his special and dear friend, Anthony Stewart of Winston-Salem; and many other friends who will deeply miss him.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Steen Funeral Home, Central Avenue Chapel.

A graveside service will follow at Ashland Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, with Father D. Andrew Canon Garner, KHS, presiding.
