Ronald R. Dray, 79, of Carrollton, passed away peacefully at his home on July 13, 2025, with his family by his side.
Born April 22, 1946, in Carrollton, he was a son of the late Todd and Glendora Davis Dray.
A proud United States Army Veteran, Ronald spent 30 years working as a miner and operator for Consolidated Coal Company. He was a hard worker who found joy in the simple pleasures of life-farming, woodworking, and spending time outdoors surrounded by nature.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Karen; three sons, Chuck (Mandy Sandy) Dray, Dan (Tammy) Dray, and Rob Newbold; a daughter, Penny (Dan) Howard; and his beloved grandchildren: Ty (Camber) Carrothers, Billy (Jess) Dray, Keaton (Mollie Tarski) Carrothers, McKenzie (Josh) Sparrow, Courtney (Tara) Dray, Gracelyn (Wes) Thibodeaux, Jordan Dray, Adriauna Dray, and Addy Bledsoe. Ronald was also blessed with six great-grandchildren who brought him much pride and joy.
He is also survived by brothers, Jim, John, Melvin, and Randy (Diane) Dray; sisters, Betty Wheeler and Jane (Ed) Gilmore; and sisters-in-law, Teri Dray and Donna (Hamilton) Binkley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Charlotte (Hazel Holmes) Dray; brothers, Bill and Jack Dray; sisters, Bertha Kagey and Linda Shotwell; sisters-in-law, Pat, Teri, Diane; and a son, Chad Newbold.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the entire Hospice Care Team for their professionalism, kindness, and compassionate care during Ronald's final days.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal services.
