Ronald Edelyn

Ronald Edelyn, affectionately known as Ron, Ronnie, or Big Ron, age 66, of Kentwood, Michigan, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. He fought bravely until the very end, surrounded by love. 

Ron was born on July 9, 1959, to John and Gerda Edelyn. He was a devoted son and shared a close bond with his mother. He was preceded in death by his father, John Edelyn. 

Above all else, Ron was a devoted father and Opa. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Dakota and Amie Talsma, and Michelle and Derek Schreur. He was a proud grandfather to Gunner Talsma and Declan and Sullivan Schreur, who brought him immense joy. 

Ron is also survived by his siblings, Rene Edelyn and James and Lori Edelyn, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him deeply. 

Ron will be remembered for his strength, love for his family, and the unwavering dedication he showed to those he cared about. His presence filled the lives of those around him, and his memory will continue to live on through the many lives he touched. 

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, located at 1253 52nd St. SE, with a luncheon to follow. The family will greet friends and relatives on Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
