Ronald Scott Elsen, 66, longtime resident of Council Grove, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, July 10th, surrounded by his loving family. Ron was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on August 18, 1958, and moved to Sheridan, Colorado, in 1966. He graduated from Sheridan High School and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1976 to 1980. He went on to work in telecommunications for 45 years across the country.

Ron married Sharon Kay Reed in 1982, and together they had three children. He loved classic trucks, Harley-Davidson motorcycles, dirt bikes, and all things outdoors-especially hunting and fishing with his kids. He was a proud grandfather who never missed a chance to cheer at his grandkids' sporting events.

Ron is survived by his children: Dean & Kendra Elsen of Council Grove, KS; Desiree & Robert Hoose of Austin, TX; and his grandchildren Jason, Colton, Kasten, Elle, Blair, and Hailey. He is also survived by his mother Chris Elsen of Evanston, WY; brothers Paul Elsen & Sheena of Council Grove, KS, Scott Elsen & Barb of Evanston, WY, and Jon Mestdagh & Cheryl of Englewood, CO; sister-in-law Jan Mestdagh of Ackley, IA; and brother-in-law Paul Carter of Sandy, UT.

He was preceded in death by his son Derrick Elsen; father Melvin Elsen; Mother Pauline Elsen; sister Lisa Carter; brothers Bob and Dick Mestdagh; and former wife Sharon Elsen.

A graveside service and memorial will be held at Sunny Slope Cemetery at a future date to celebrate Ron's life.
