He graduated from Aitkin High School in 1947. That same year he enrolled at the University of Minnesota graduating in 1951 with a BBA. He was a member of Delta Sigma Pi and gave his fraternity much credit for the positive outcomes he experienced. He remained connected to his Delta Sig Brothers throughout his life.
Shortly after college, he formed a business partnership to buy a Cadillac and Oldsmobile dealership in Wadena, MN.
In November 1952 Ron was drafted and served two years in the U.S. Army at Ft. Bragg, NC.
Not long after his return to civilian life, he was urged to run for election to the Minnesota House of Representatives. His 10 years as a legislator were noteworthy for his contributions to good government, serving on the Rules and Tax Committee and as Chairman of the Banking Committee. Active in the Republican Party, Ron was a staunch supporter of conservative government all his life.
In 1969 Ron sold his share of the auto dealership to his partner and became a full time stockbroker with Piper, Jaffray & Hopwood in Minneapolis. He had a number of key sales and management positions as well as serving in their St. Paul and Minneapolis offices.
Ron maintained a strong interest in boating on the St. Croix, skiing in Colorado and fishing in Canada. He was a lifetime member of the American Swedish Institute where he served as a Director. He was a member of Svenska Sallskapet, a Swedish men's club, and his church, Christ Presbyterian Church, until his death.
He is survived by his children Robbin, Scott, Nancy, Paul, and Rebecca and his grandchildren Connor and Bruno. He was preceded in death by his wife Marcia and his daughter Sharon.
A memorial service will be held January 6th, 2025 at 1:00pm at Christ Presbyterian Church.
