Funeral services for Mr. Ronald Wayne Franks will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025, in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, with Brother Jimmy Koonce officiating. Interment will follow in Alexandria Memorial Gardens, Woodworth, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.
Mr. Franks, 66, of Alexandria, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at home surrounded by his family.
Wayne was a true Louisiana sportsman, from hunting and fishing to trapping, he did it all. Along with that came a vast knowledge of guns that he loved to discuss with others. He was a family-oriented person and a caretaker to his elders. If he gets to pick his spot in heaven, he'll be sitting on the porch of his grandparents' house drinking coffee, telling hunting stories, and selling some vegetables off the porch. He was always willing to spend time with the children of his family from playing checkers to fishing. Wayne spent endless hours studying his Bible and learning about his Christian faith that was so important to him. His final weeks were spent surrounded by friends and family, sharing fond memories and love. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John David "Junior" Franks and Patsy Verzwyvelt Franks; his maternal grandparents, Henry "Sonny Boy" and Bena Verzwyvelt; and his paternal grandparents, John David and Ruth Franks.
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include, two sisters, Wanda Franks (Rickey) and Janet Franks Perkins; his uncle, James "Jim" Verzwyvelt (Gloria); four nephews, Mookie Perkins (Brittany), Christopher Perkins (Leann), David Perkins (Alanis), and Scott "Scooter" Marino; one niece, Brandi Evans (Buck); nine great nieces and nephews, Dylan Sweat, Baylee Perkins, Layla Perkins, Carlo Perkins, Kye Perkins, Leland Perkins, Lennon Perkins, Lane Evans, and Kennedi Evans; a host of other family members; and his lifelong friend, Ronnie King (Mary Beth).
A time of visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Buck Evans, Lane Evans, Kary Beebe, Joe Rachal, Christopher Perkins, Jared Beebe, Jimbo Verzwyvelt, and Mike Verzwyvelt.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Compassionate Care Hospice during his final weeks, especially Allison and Toni.
