Doris “Tilly” Franks passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 48, surrounded by family at Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva, NC on October 25, 2025.
Tilly is survived by her partner Jim, her mother Doris P. Franks of Tuckasegee, NC, her children, Bubba Queen of Balsam Grove, NC, Twyla Kappler (Logan) of Brevard, NC, her four grandchildren, Kobe, Kally, Kolton, and Karleigh. She also leaves behind her siblings Tina Cooper, Dewayne Franks and Anthony Franks of Tuckasegee, NC.
She is preceded in death by her father Myron Franks.
Tilly was born August 20, 1977 in Jackson County, NC to Myron and Doris Franks. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother who always pushed her children to do their best. She was always a strong supporter of her children and was there to help.
Twyla and Bubba would like to thank their aunt Tina Cooper for being such a loving sister to their mother and being a resilient voice for her as her health declined.
Tilly enjoyed her work career as well, serving the residents of Tore’s Home and the Hermitage as if they were her own family. If she was not working she always sought others to help, as her compassion for others was an asset that will be dearly missed. When she did find the time to relax, spending time in nature was her favorite way to enjoy the beauty that God has made around us.
Love you to the moon and back!
A funeral will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at the Tuckasegee Church of God. The family will receive friends from 1pm-2pm. She will be interred at Shook Cemetery following the funeral.
