Marvetta Parker Gentry, 81, of Tuckasegee, North Carolina went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 5, 2025 after an extended illness. The daughter of the late Charlie Parker and Charlotte Rigdon, Marvetta enjoyed her time living in the Tuckasegee Community of Jackson County.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Tom McCall, husband Robert Gentry, bother Jimmy Parker and son Tony McCall.
She is survived by, her sister Marylin Ashe, daughter Wanda (James) Nicholson, grandchildren Jennifer Mathis (Anthony)Edwards of Sylva, Miranda Conrad (Brian) Sheridan of Elma, Washington, Cari Baxter of Aberdeen, Washington, Cody McCall of Cullowhee, Kayla (Zane) Henry of Tuckasegee, Dillon(Jessica) McCall of Sylva, and great grandchildren Cassin Mathis, Ember Conrad, Britt Conrad, Randi Conrad, Ayden Baxter, James McCall, Hayden Henry, Landen Henry, Maverick Henry, Charlie McCall, and Leonidas McCall.
Marvetta was a life long member of Wolf Creek Baptist Church, loved the Lord with all of her heart. She loved to garden as well and enjoyed spending time outside. She also had interests in needle point crochet where she enjoyed making gifts for others and decorations for her home. She additionally a good book and spent many hours reading to pass the the time. She truly loved visits from her family and friends and her face would shine with excitement when she had visitors. Her heart remained humble and had a huge giving heart and would help others anytime she could. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Appalachian Funeral Services will be assisting the family with a funeral service on Friday, October 10, 2025 at 1pm at Wolf Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Claude Nicholson and Rev. Jason Bryson officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Following the funeral service, burial will take place at Wood Cemetery in Tuckasegee.
