Ronald Fridell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Harwood Cremation and Funeral Services - Canon City on Apr. 10, 2025.
Our dear Ron was born July 11, 1943, in Fresno, California to Donald W. Fridell and Rosalie M. (Prelogar) Fridell. He graduated from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, with a B.A. and M.A. in Radio, T.V., Film. He was Filmmaker in Residence at Kendall College, Evanston, Illinois, where he met and married Julie Dean. Ron served one year as a Vista volunteer in Conyers, Georgia, and two years as a Peace Corps volunteer with Julie in Bangkok, Thailand. Ron is the author of more than forty fiction and non-fiction novels and numerous publications in magazines and periodicals. He was also involved in the Canon City Public Library Writer's Circle. Ron loved hiking the Canon City/Royal Gorge area, enjoying the sunshine and beauty of the region; Turner Classic Movies, old Westerns, quiet evenings, Hawaiian shirts, and a good meal with friends and family.
His parents and Katie Dean, and Scout preceded him in death. Remaining are his first wife, Julie Dean, and her extended family which became his: Erika Dean-Moore and her children, Mare, Chloe, Asher, Ivy, and Ron's favorite walking buddy, Nimmy; Hunter and Amanda Dean-Moore and their children, Neva, Avin, and Elora. Also surviving are a son, Alex, a daughter, Sonja, a sister, Connie, three grandchildren and a niece. Also, so supportive of Ron, his dear friend and caregiver, Glenda Gordon, numerous Canon City and Colorado acquaintances, advisers, care professionals, Lori and Brenda and so many loving caretakers at Progressive Care Center, and Harwood Funeral Home. Thank you all.
If you wish, please make a donation to the Canon City Public Library, 516 Macon Ave., Canon City, CO 81212, where Ron's novels will be available to read. Ron's life was filled with achievement, prosperity, and happiness. "We love our bread, we love our butter, but most of all we love each other." Now, Voyager...
