Ronald "Joe" James Frommel, 91 of Florence passed away on March 28, 2026 after a long illness. He was the youngest son of the late Willard and Ethel Frommel. He was the brother of the late Willard Frommel and Sister Patricia Danner. He is the father of the late Rhonda Brockhoeft and surviving children: daughter Renee Frommel Fugiel of Arizona and Darren Frommel of Florence. He has one granddaughter Kali Frommel Sheak (Rylie) and one great granddaughter Charlotte Jolyne of Arizona, son in law Tim Brockhoft.
Ron was born on June 9, 1934 in Bellevue, KY. He graduated from Newport Catholic High School in 1953. Ron served in Navy Reserves Active 1951-1954 and the US Army from 1955-1957. Ron did his training for the Army at Fort Carson, Co and Fort Blitz, TX. He was stationed in England at Lakeneath Cambridgeshire Air Force Base. Ron worked at Cincinnati Gas and Electric for over 40 years. Ron was a parishioner of St. Paul Catholic Church for over 58 years. He was a very active member with the American Legion Post 534, Post 1988 and a Son of Post 20, Catholic War Vets Post 1492, Army-Navy Union-Garrison 1, AMVETS Post 41, Veterans Hospital, KMA/KBA Dist 4, Western Hills Veterans Council, Eagle 40+8 Voiture 29, Volunteer with Special Olympics, Al Hambra Post 10/416. Also a member of the Florence Elks Lodge No. 314. He loved the Reds and college basketball. Most of all he loved his 1977 Harley Sportster 1000 ! Ron devoted his entire life to giving and helping others. "A simple man that led an extraordinary life".
Visitation will be Wednesday April 1 from 11AM to 1 PM at Alliance Funeral Home and Cremation Center 7816 Dixie Highway Florence, KY 41042. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:30 PM at St. Paul Catholic Church 7301 Dixie Highway Florence. Interment will be in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North Williamstown, KY .
In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to Veterans Volunteer Program.
