Ronald Dean George, aged 80, of
Coffeyville, Kansas, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
He was born in Coffeyville on December 9, 1944, to Carl and Flora (McVey) George. Ron grew up and attended school in Coffeyville graduating from Field Kindley high school in 1964. Following graduation, he attended Coffeyville Community Junior College.
On September 4, 1965, he married his high school sweetheart Geraldine "Gerry" Pringle in Coffeyville. Following their marriage, they made their home in Coffeyville where Ron began a 30-year career at Funk MFG Co. now John Deere Coffeyville Works before retiring in 1995 and later contributing his expertise to Cook Pump Co. from 1996 to 2010. Alongside his wife, Gerry, Ron also owned and operated the Wishing Well Flea Market for 40 years before retiring from the venture in 2023. He was also a proud veteran, having served in the Kansas Army National Guard from 1965 to 1971.
In his leisure time, Ronald enjoyed listening to music, playing Mahjong on the computer, and reading Bible Prophecy. He was also an avid attendee of auctions, a hobby that complemented his flea market venture. Active in his community, Ronald was involved in Relay for Life from 2007 to 2013 and volunteered with the Salvation Army Coffeyville Community Service Volunteers. Above all else, what mattered most to Ronald was his family and his church, and his devotion to both was a testament to his love and faith.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Geraldine "Gerry" George; his niece who was like a daughter, Brenda (Nick) Morris of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; five grandchildren and their spouses, thirteen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; sisters-in-law Joanna George of Marshfield, Missouri, Mary (John) Sikes of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, and Jeanne Pringle of Wichita, Kansas; and brother-in-law Gerald Pringle of Edna, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Flora George; his brother, Kenneth George; and his sister, Reba George; and infant brother, Richard George.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation for Ronald at David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road,
Coffeyville, Kansas, 67337, on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.at First Baptist Church, 506 Shawnee Street, South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, with Pastor Jonathan Filson and Wade Lamb officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville, with Military Honors conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1022 and American Legion Post #20.
