Ronald Roy Gobeyn, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and respected member of the Bridgeport community, passed away on December 6, 2023, at Covenant Medical Center-Cooper in Saginaw. He was born on October 10, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois. Ron's dedication to his family, successful business ventures, and active involvement in various community organizations have left an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Ron and his wife established Gobeyn's Marathon and Bridgeport Towing and Repair in Bridgeport, Michigan in 1970 at 25 years old.
Ron graduated from Saginaw High School before pursuing further studies at Delta College and Saginaw Valley State University.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Ronald thrived outside of the workplace. Ron was a dedicated coach for little league baseball, served as a mentor to many, and seemed to always find a way to be generous with his time helping others.
Ron enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, feeding birds gardening, snowmobiling, and going up North.
Sports held a special place in Ron's heart, particularly the University of Michigan and the Detroit Tigers.
Above all, Ron cherished spending time with his granddaughters. They held a special bond with their "Papa."
Ron was an active member of the community, to include the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) and Michigan Towing Association.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Bernetta A. Gobeyn (Kujawa). They were united in marriage on August 3, 1968. He also leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Nathan (Amanda) Gobeyn and Philip (Briget) Gobeyn; six granddaughters, Charlotte, Claire, Cassidy, Alexa, Gianna, and Antonia; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tim and Shelly Pretzer; nephews; and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Genevieve Gobeyn; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Virginia Kujawa; and brother, Wayne Gobeyn.
Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at W.L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 5700 Dixie Hwy, Saginaw, MI 48601. They may also visit with the family at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 11, 2023, where the funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Deacon Gary Patelski will officiate the service with interment to follow in Pine Grove cemetery.
