Ronald W. Golden, 83 of Cranesville, passed away on Saturday, August 10th, 2024. He was born on September 2, 1940, a son to the late George and Marion (Yates) Golden.
Ron's upbringing was in Lake City, where he attended St. Johns Catholic School during his early education and he graduated from Rice Avenue Union High School in 1958. After completing his schooling, Ron was eager to build a life of his own and soon started a family. Ron's journey into the workforce began with his family's business at the local Golden Dawn grocery store. Throughout years, he diligently worked to gain experience and expertise in the grocery industry. Eventually, he assumed the role of the store's operator, a position he held until 1979, when a fire destroyed the store. Ron drew upon his past experience and began work at the local IGA grocery store and later worked with Larry Penica, prior to retirement. After many years of service, Ron eventually decided to retire following a job well done.
From a young age, Ron's was involved with the Knights of Columbus, Girard Council #5430, which he proudly joined in 1960 and remained a fourth-degree, and eventually, a life member. In the spirit of camaraderie, he participated in various activities including being part of the Knights' Bowling league. In his leisure time, Ron cherished the company of his friends and enjoyed card games. During the winter months, he ventured out snowmobiling with his boys. To get away from the hustle and bustle for a moment of peace, he was often found creek-side while fishing. Ron's camp in Titusville was a welcomed get away and hunting cabin. A man of faith, he was a long standing member of both St. John's in Girard as well as St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Albion.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce (Glass) Golden whom he married on July 4, 1981; and his brothers, Jack and Bob Golden.
He will be remembered and greatly missed by his family including his daughter, Debbie Hawley; sons, Daniel Golden (Debbie) and Donald Golden (Cristina); sisters, Cheryl Lynch and Judy Grode; brothers, George Golden Jr. and Pat Golden; grandchildren, Nicole, Jennifer, Camille; great grandchildren, Aiden, Caylyn, Landon, and Leigha; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 10:00 am at St. Lawrence Faith Formation, 180 E State St, Albion, PA 16401.
