Died: June 30, 2024
Ronald J. "Ron" Gonsoulin Sr.
Age 91, late of Joliet, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on Sunday, June 30, 2024. Born in Gulfport, Mississippi, raised in Biloxi, Mississippi, lived in Columbus, Georgia, and a resident of Joliet since 1957. Retired from the EJ&E Railroad after 37 years of dedicated service. Member of the Joliet Moose Lodge # 300, the Moran AC, and often enjoyed visiting the Southside Civic Club, and the Cantigny Post #367 VFW, Joliet. Ron cherished meeting up with his friends at Louie's Restaurant on Fridays and was an avid New York Yankees fan. He had a great passion and appreciation for country music, he played the guitar and was the lead singer in a few local bands.
Preceded in death by his beloved first wife, Margaret (Nee Repenn) Gonsoulin (1980), and his beloved second wife, Cecelia Ann (Nee Keifer) Gonsoulin (2001); two sons, Edward J. Gonsoulin (2018), and Ronald J. Gonsoulin Jr. (2023); one daughter, Judy Watters (2002); three grandchildren, Tiffany Gonsoulin, Danielle Gonsoulin, and Candace Graham; his parents, Harry and Lelia (Nee Comeaux) Gonsoulin; two brothers, and 3 sisters.
Survived by his children, Robert (Michelle) Gonsoulin of Lockport, Lori (Todd) Gwynn of Odenton, Maryland, Connie Graham of Lockport, Tina Sanders of Joliet and Laymon (Helena) Sanders of Valparaso, Indiana; nine cherished grandchildren and four great grandchildren; his sisters, Lorraine (late John) Guffey and Shirley (Mike) Wills. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Ron's name would be greatly appreciated.
Per Ron's wishes Cremation Rites have been respectfully addressed.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024, in the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel 1105 E. 9th St. Lockport, IL 60441 from 3:00pm until time of Memorial Service at 6:00pm.
