Ronald Lee "Ron" Harman, 83, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025, in
Salisbury, Maryland. Born on June 5, 1942, in
Baltimore, Maryland, Ron lived a full and meaningful life marked by dedication to his family, career, and community.
A proud graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, Ron went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Maryland at College Park. His strong work ethic and leadership skills were evident early on as he began his lifelong career in the grocery business while still in high school. Starting at Acme Markets, Ron steadily rose through the ranks to hold an Executive Management position. He later concluded his distinguished career with Valu Food in a similar leadership role. Throughout his decades in the industry, Ron earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and peers alike.
Ron also served his country honorably as a member of the Army Reserves for four years.
Above all else, Ron was a devoted father and grandfather who cherished time spent with his family. He is survived by his loving daughters: Dawn Cropper (Steven Cropper), Angela Cook (Stephen Cook), and Michelle Speranzella (Ronald Speranzella). His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren: Kayla Cropper, Tara Cropper Tobias, Jacob Cropper, Hannah Cook, Ryan Cook, Zachary Speranzella, and Joshua Speranzella. He is also survived by his sister Nancy Ciotta and nieces Lisa Folytn and Colleen Notaro.
Ron was predeceased by his parents, William Spurgeon Harman and Myrtle Isabelle Leese Harman.
Family memories are filled with joyful times spent together at Ocean City, Maryland; strolls along the Baltimore Harbor; baseball games; and gatherings of relatives. A true sports enthusiast, Ron's passion for Maryland teams was unwavering. He was an avid fan of the Orioles and Ravens-his television was almost always tuned to a game. The departure of the Colts from Baltimore in 1984 left him heartbroken, but he quickly embraced the Ravens upon their arrival and remained a loyal supporter ever since. Attending games with friends and family brought him great joy; he often secured tickets so that his children could share those experiences with him.
Ron's warmth extended beyond family-he had a natural charm that made everyone feel welcome. Known for his kindness, humor, and personable nature, he left lasting impressions wherever he went. On weekends he enjoyed relaxing at home and took great pride in maintaining his yard-a quiet reflection of the care he gave to every aspect of life.
Ronald Lee Harman was an incredible man whose presence enriched the lives of all who knew him. His memory will live on through the love he shared and the legacy he leaves behind.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
