Ronald Keith Harper, a dedicated individual who lived a life of service and passion, passed away on October 13, 2023, at Centerpoint Hospital in Independence, Missouri. Ron was born on July 29, 1946, in Independence, Missouri to Ernest and Freda Harper.

Ronald's journey of excellence began when he graduated from Van Horn High School in 1964. Afterward, he held a job with Montgomery Ward then went on to work at Ford Automotive painting vehicles. He dedicated several years to honing his craft and contributing to the industry.

Driven by a deep sense of duty and patriotism during the Vietnam conflict, Ronald made the pivotal decision to enlist in the United States Air Force. His time in the Air Force allowed him to develop the skill and expertise working on airplanes. He started as a munitions specialist then worked his way up to being lead safety non-commissioned officer for multiple squadrons throughout his career.

With unwavering dedication and commitment, Ronald rose through the ranks and held the esteemed position of E9 Chief Master Sergeant—the highest rank for a non-commissioned officer. For over 29 years he faithfully served his country with honor and distinction. It was because of this that he had the opportunity to show his family the world while traveling to numerous sites throughout his journey.

In his leisure time, Ronald pursued a variety of hobbies and interests. He enjoyed racing cars as a young man, built and fixed computers—an activity that brought him both joy and satisfaction, and was a Boyscout Troop Leader where he imparted valuable lessons and left lasting impressions on countless young minds.

Ronald Keith Harper leaves behind a legacy characterized by dedication, kindness, and an unyielding love for his country. As we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate the vibrant life he lived and the countless lives he touched along the way. Ron loved sharing his stories with others and his kind, jovial personality will be missed beyond measure. May his soul find eternal peace as his memory lives on in our hearts.

Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; son, Richard Harper (Erin); daughter, Ronda Bacu (Michael); mother-in-law, Della Verdict; sister-in-laws, Claudia Bowen, Deborah Bellamy and Bunny Harper; dear friend, Barbara Jean Walls Correll; 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
