Ronald Headlee Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 1, 2025.
Ronald Keith Headlee, 89, of Trinidad, Colorado, passed away on September 14, 2025. Born on January 15, 1936, in San Diego, California, Ron was the youngest son of Floyd Ellsworth and Hazel Vera Headlee. After graduating from Bakersfield High School and Fresno State University, Ron enlisted in the Army and entertained troops as part of the "Rolling Along" road show. Known for his unique blend of warmth, wit and professionalism, Ron also found success as a radio broadcaster in Fresno and Los Angeles and eventually transitioned to acting, appearing in television series and films including Perry Mason, Diagnosis: Murder, and A Child's Cry for Help. Off screen, Ron was a gifted playwright and cowboy poet, which additionally tapped his passion for storytelling and often revealed his love of Colorado and the American West. But Ron's greatest legacy is the love he had for family, friends and animals. A man of remarkable talent, boundless creativity, and infectious humor, he left an indelible mark on every endeavor he pursued and on the hearts of all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Doris, and his brothers, Donald Headlee and Richard Headlee. Ron is survived by his sister-in-law, Marilyn Headlee, nieces Lynn Owens and McKenna Cole, nephews Todd and Lance Headlee, as well as grandnieces, great-grandnephews, and a great-grandniece. In Ron's honor, his family asks for donations to an animal shelter near you.
