Ronald Herivel Obituary

RONALD HERIVEL It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald Herivel, who left us peacefully on December 24, 2025, surrounded by his wife and family, just two days shy of his 90th birthday. Born on December 26, 1935, in Detroit, MI, Ron was the beloved son of Alfred and Muriel Herivel. He was a loyal husband to his first wife, Mary Mason, whom he married in 1958. Together, they raised three wonderful daughters, Lisa, Laura, and Susan. After Mary's courageous battle with ALS ended, Ron found love again and married Marlan Wallestad in 1985. Marlan brought with her three wonderful children, Renae, Roland, and Rhonda, who expanded Ron's family. Ron served proudly in the Korean War, showcasing a spirit of service that defined much of his life. In 1970, he moved to Littlefork, MN, where he built a log home by hand. For nearly three decades, he committed himself to his work at Boise Cascade, eventually retiring in 1998. Even after retirement, he remained active, spending 14 years with Kootasca making a positive impact on everyone he encountered. Ron was also a loyal member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in International Falls. Anyone who knew Ron can attest to his passions: he loved getting his hands dirty in the garden, tinkering away in his workshop, and spending weekends fishing at Rainy Lake. He also cherished deer hunting season and thrill of the great outdoors. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Muriel; and his first wife Mary. He leaves behind his cherished wife, Marlan, daughters: Lisa Herivel, Laura (Mike) Polkinghorne, and Sue (Greg) Williams; stepdaughters, Renae (Wayne) Bahr, and Rhonda (Todd) Anderson; stepson, Roland (Connie) Wallestad; grandchildren, Erica Hauck, Amanda Jones (Kevin Merrill), Kory Williams (Laura Charlton), Ryan Bahr (Sarah), Brett Bahr (Sadie), Nathan Wallestad (Morgan), Mari Lanthier (Jason), Kristine Ramos (Blake), Stacy Fennell (Jonathon), Jodi Anderson (Cash); 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Elaine Blakeslee; and many nieces and nephews. Per Ron's request a graveside service will be held in the spring. If so desired, memorial donations can be directed to the Evangelical Covenant Church, 1631 1st Ave E, International Falls, MN 56649 or to the donor's choice.
