He was born December 4, 1936, to Elwyn and Edyth (Woods) Hook.
He graduated from Medford High School, Medford, MA, and went on to study Mechanical Engineering at Northeastern University, Boston, MA, before enlisting in the Navy in February 1958. He served on The Skywatcher and he especially enjoyed his work on the salvage ship, The Hoist.

In 2005, he and Judith moved to the home of their dreams in Gilmanton, NH. Ronald was a highly-skilled and exacting carpenter with talent in post and beam construction, the finest of finish work, and furniture.
