Ronald Ialongo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. - Mill Street on Nov. 18, 2024.
Ronald Joseph Ialongo, 69, of New Castle, PA died on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at UPMC Jameson in the hands of his loving wife and daughter. He was a week shy of his 70th birthday. Ron was born to Ernest and Rose (Steff) Ialongo on November 25, 1954 in Ellwood City, PA. He graduated from Shenango High School in 1972. Ron married his beloved wife and best friend Deborah "Deb-e" (Quarello) Ialongo at St. Vitus Church in New Castle, PA on July 6, 1990. He worked at City Welding, Radio Shack, and finally Jameson Hospital for 30 years, where he retired as a security officer in 2012. He was a Roman Catholic.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He was an only child. He is survived by his wife, Deb-e Ialongo, of New Castle, PA, and only child, Ilana Ialongo, of Pittsburgh, PA.
Ron had a jam-packed "dash" that was cut short. He was a jack of all trades, near master of all. Ron was very personable and had a servant's heart and shared it with anyone that needed help, but especially with his daughter. He was incredibly technical and a lifelong learner. He was well skilled in mechanics, technology-such as ham radio operations and computers, maintenance projects, woodworking, animal care, landscaping, and gardening. He enjoyed fishing (especially in Canada with his dad), golfing, model trains, motocross (competing and watching) and spending time at the beach (annual vacations to Ocean City, NJ).
Ron's main claim to fame was his musical talents. He played numerous instruments, but was best known for his bass guitar skills. He was in many bands including: polka, rock (Dorals), show band (Rainbow), and even started a band with two others called, Slyder, which was a Top 40s wedding trio. In his later days, he enjoyed fusion jazz and improvising the bass lines for Reed Imperfection. Music truly was his passion, and Ron will live on through his recorded music.
Visitation will be held for family and friends on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 from 4pm to 9pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home at 941 S. Mill St., New Castle, PA 16101. On Thursday, November 21, 2024, a procession will leave the funeral home at 10am for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church. Father Thomas Skamai will officiate. Entombment will be in Parkside Mausoleum.

Deb-e and Ilana. You both have my deepest sympathy for the passing of your husband and Father. I´m sorry he had to suffer so much in his later years but he´s now free of all his pain. I remember him playing in Bessemer for our class reunion. I know you both have many beautiful memories of him. Keep them in your heart always. Apologies for not coming in person but I´m fighting a flu bug. May his memory be eternal
