Ronald W. Jarrell, age 79, passed away on March 18, 2024, at his home in Milford, DE, after a prolonged battle with cancer and related health complications.
Ronald, "RJ", was born in Wilmington, DE, to the late Paul Richards Jarrell and Dorothy Doughton. A disabled veteran, RJ gained the qualification of Jungle Expert during his time in Panama. A lover of learning and seizing the opportunities that life offered him, RJ also acquired various skills such as being a DJ ("RJ the DJ, coming your way, today!"), a Digital Marketer, and a Beekeeper, among others.
As Reverend Ronald Jarrell, RJ concerned himself with the pursuit of truth, never forgetting to 'fasten the belt of truth' around his waist as he met each day with honesty and compassion. Throughout his life he served his community as an advisor and advocate who leveraged his unique perspective and abilities to help those around him.
Possessed of a quick wit and indomitable sense of optimism, RJ was always able to bring levity and a positive spin to even the most difficult situations, a rare quality that was appreciated by his family and friends. His passing leaves the world a duller place. He will be sorely missed. RJ is survived by his daughter, Lucy M. Jarrell, who served as his caretaker in his final years.
There will be no service but the family would appreciate donations in RJ's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Smile Train, both causes that were close to his heart.
