Ronald Johnson Obituary

Ronald David Johnson

Feb 13, 1945 - Jan 30, 2026

Huron

Ronald David Johnson, 80, of Huron, passed away peacefully Friday morning, January 30, 2026, at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky after a courageous battle with cancer. Our family friend, Nurse Donna, was by his side.

Ron was born February 13, 1945, in Lorain, to Captain John and Goldie (Horvath) Johnson. He was always very proud of his Norwegian and Hungarian Heritage.

Ron grew up in Berlin Heights, where he spent summers working on his family's farm, working at Cedar Point, and eventually working at Lorain Ford. He was active and excelled at sports - track, football, and basketball. Ron graduated from Berlin Heights High School in 1963. Ron attended The Ohio State University and Columbus Business College.

Ron was a manager at Household Finance in Sandusky and Akron before becoming a supervisor at Avon Lake Ford Truck Plant. He worked at Ford for 35 years, retiring in 2007.

Ron proudly served his country for 10 years in the United States Air Force Reserve. He was awarded Airman of the Year twice during his service.

Ron enjoyed skiing with Sandusky Ski Club, where he met his wife, Lori. They were married October 8, 1988. Ron was an animal lover, especially all of his cats. He loved boating and was an avid perch and walleye fisherman, catching several Fish Ohio.

After retirement, Ron enjoyed working on crafts, including woodworking, cutting, engraving, and painting sandstone rocks. All his original designs.

Ron is survived by his wife of 37 years, Lori Johnson, who will love and miss her Ronnie forever; daughter, Rhonda Wooten; son, James Johnson; grandchildren, Keegan Wooten and Kirsta Wooten; brother, Terry (Patty) Johnson; many cousins; nieces and nephews; as well as his beloved cats.

Ron was preceded in death by his mother, Goldie Johnson (1980); his father, Captain John Johnson (1982); his brother, John T. Johnson (1991); and his sister, Nancy Otto (2024).

At Ron's request, cremation has taken place.

Memorial contribu-tions in his name may be made to Erie County Humane Society, 1911 Superior Street, Sandusky, Ohio 44870.

A celebration of life for Ron will be at a later date. Details to follow.
