Ronald A. Keehner, age 96, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025 in Houston, TX. He was born on July 1, 1929 in Alton, Illinois to Clarence and Gertrude Keehner and graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor's Degree specializing in Industrial Management. After college, Ron proudly served his country as a Marine rising to the rank of Corporal. Upon completing his military service, he moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin and began working for the FMC Corporation. It was in Green Bay where he met Charlotte, the love of his life, and was blessed with their two daughters. Ron's job eventually brought the family to Chicago and then to Houston where he continued to work at FMC for the remainder of this career.
Ron held membership in the Masons organization for a total of 69 years and was an active member of the Masons Northwest Lodge #1434, holding several officer positions. He received the prestigious Golden Trowel award for brethren who display extraordinary efforts and service to their lodge and also earned the Master Lodge Award recognizing his untold hours of service.
After retirement, Ron and Charlotte joined the Tomball Country Club where they enjoyed many rounds of golf. When they weren't golfing, they spent many weeks a year traveling the world. Ron was a master-griller always supplying his children and grandchildren with burgers, steaks, and all sorts of delicious barbeque. He enjoyed spending time with his family playing board and card games, more often than not coming away with the victory. Ron was at his happiest with a dog in the house and could always be counted on to sneak a few treats to his furry friend each afternoon. He held a deep appreciation of music and could often be seen listening with his eyes closed and a smile on his face. On a nice day, Ron could be found sitting on the back porch taking in the sunshine, watching the birds, and occasionally enjoying a nice cigar.
Ron was a devoted husband, cherished father and grandfather, and a coveted member of the community. He was known for his integrity and intelligence, his quiet generosity, and his unwavering support for his family. Ron will be missed dearly by all those who knew him and will continue to be remembered through the memories created and the stories and wisdom he shared.
Ron was preceded in death by his loving wife Charlotte and is survived by his daughters Cheryl Best and husband Edgar, Karen Koontz and her fiancé Terry Sprinkle, and four grandchildren Christoper Best, Kelly Best, Zachary Koontz, and Austin Koontz.
