Ronald Kopek Obituary

Ronald J. Kopek
July 13, 1946 - October 25, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald John Kopek on October 25, 2024 in Stamford, CT. Born to John and Estelle Kopek on July 13, 1946, he spent his 78 years creating a life filled with love, happiness, laughter, and good times. He was predeceased by both his parents and his sister, Laura Murphy. He is survived by his wife, Bridget Ormond Kopek, son Evan, daughter Danielle, and son-in-law, Joe Santasiero. He leaves behind his adored grandchildren, Jack and Carter Santasiero, who brought him much joy during his final days. His brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Jeanne Kopek, and sister and brother-in-law, Lynn and Tim Tierney, also survive him, along with numerous other family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Ron grew up in Stamford, where he attended and played football for Rippowam High School. His talents and intellect earned him a full academic scholarship and the opportunity to play football at Cornell University. During his early years, he was inducted into Mensa International, the High IQ society, and also honored as an All-American athlete.
On November 19, 1988, Ron married the love of his life, Bridget Ormond, in a ceremony in Stamford, CT. Their marriage was a testament to true partnership, filled with laughter and unwavering support. Bridget was not only his wife but his best friend, and together they built a life filled with love and joy.
Ron's professional life was marked by his role as a truck driver, a career in which he exhibited the same hard work and dedication that characterized his entire life. He built many lifelong friendships throughout his career, especially during his time working at Coca-Cola.
In his final days, Ron was under the compassionate care of Dr. Gulati, the Bennett Cancer Center and Constellation Hospice. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to them for their kindness and support during Ron's final journey.
Ron made his mark on this world through an abundance of love, dedication, and cherished family traditions that will endure for generations. Those close to him knew him as a happy, selfless, and humble individual who never complained. He was a man who loved music and dancing, always the life of the party, bringing light and laughter wherever he went. However, his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, whom he cherished deeply. As we carry forward his legacy, we should let his spirit inspire us, reminding us to cherish every precious moment.
Visitation and service will be all be held on Friday, November 1, 2024 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle, Stamford, CT (203)-359-9999. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bennett Cancer Center and/or Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
