AMSTERDAM Ronald Joseph Lagace, Sr., 80, entered into eternal rest Friday, September 19, 2025 at his residence with his loving family by his side.

Born in Canada, he was the son of the late Rolland and Ceceile Letendre Lagace. He was raised and educated in the Cohoes area. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the US Air Force, serving from 1963-1967. Ron proudly served his country and this began two of his lifelong passions; his love of flying and his love of this nation.

Ron was a strong and faithful patriot throughout his life. He also was also proud of being a pilot and even had his own plane with which he would often take family and friends on rides. An avid gun enthusiast as well, he belonged to the Taunton Rifle and Pistol Club in Massachusetts where he was Past-Treasurer.

Ron was a self-employed truck driver for many years. Prior to that he had worked for Eaton Trucking, Matlock Transportation and Jones Trucking. He also enjoyed taking rides on his motorcycle, was an avid dog lover, but he will most be remembered for his big heart. His love for family was undeniable. He had a generous spirit and was always happiest when surrounded by family and friends.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Betty Jane Cartwright Lagace; by his beloved children, Vivian Ceceile Poff (Devin), Ann Marie Carpenter (Joseph), Tina Marie Collins (Bill), and Ronald J. Lagace, Jr. (Kari), by his siblings, Eget M. Dupuis, Frank E. Lagace, Armand J. Lagace, Collette C. Lagace, Susan J. Swartout, Carol J. Hill, Diane T. Wells and Richard J. Lagace. His is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 30th at 11 a.m. in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes. Interment will follow with military honors in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home from 9-11 a.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers and in recognition of Ron's patriotism, please consider making a donation in his memory to Combat Veterans Motorcycle Assoc., Chapter (www.cvma-nc-15-6.org).
