Ronald E. Leleniewski, age 78, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Ron was born January 11, 1947, in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Edward & Sophie (Osowski) Leleniewski. Ron married Margaret A. (Botis) Leleniewski on June 20, 1981. Margaret preceded Ron in death on March 11, 2000. Ron is survived by his son, Richard Mersinger & wife Lisa, of Edwardsville, IL; two grandchildren, Reese & Max Mersinger, of Edwardsville, IL; a sister, Linda Leleniewski, of Granite City, IL; a brother, Leonard Leleniewski & wife Teresa, of Madison, IL; two nephews, Bryan Gagich, of Granite City, IL, and Matthew Leleniewski, of Alton, IL; and a niece, Lauren Gagich, of Crystal, MN. Besides his parents and wife, Ron was preceded in death by Sharon Gagich. Ron was a millwright at US Steel for many years before his retirement. He was a veteran of the US Air Force. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Edwardsville, American Legion Post #199, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1299, and the Edwardsville Moose Lodge. Ron was an avid sports fan especially St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Rams. He was also an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also had a passion for traveling around the country and had made it to all 50 states. A visitation will be on Monday, October 6, 2025, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville from 10 am until 11 am. A funeral Mass will immediately follow at the church at 11 am with Rev. Robert J. Jallas presiding. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Edwardsville Marching Band Boosters, Main Street Community Center, American Cancer Society, and American Diabetes Association. With Ron being a huge Cardinals fan the family ask all friends and family to wear your Cardinals jersey or attire to the funeral. Condolences may be shared online at weberfuneralhome.com.

Yesterday

I remember Ron as my close friend and big brother. Although we were brothers-in-law, he was always friendly, cheerful and helpful to me as a family member. We could always count on Ron for support no matter what the circumstances were. Ron would always send out Christmas cards to us with cheerful messages and we looked forward to him hosting gatherings at his house. He always had a knack for gardening and we looked forward to receiving his world class tomatoes. I will cherish those moments that we had with him. May he rest in peace now, a life worthy of the best! Go with God now Brother, I will miss you.
