LaVerne D. Linkeman, age 103, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away on Friday September 5, 2025, at Litchfield Health & Rehab in Litchfield, IL. LaVerne was born in Midway, IL, on April 5, 1922, the daughter of the late Herman & Margaret (Cooper) Eberhart. LaVerne married Alvin H. Linkeman on May 13, 1944, in Edwardsville. Alvin preceded LaVerne in death on April 24, 2005. LaVerne is survived by a son, Dennis Linkeman, of Holly Springs, MS; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, a sister, Irene Linkeman; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her parents and husband, Laverne was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth H. Linkeman; and her siblings, Eileen Eberhart, Hellen Mennemeyer, Leona Daube, Bill Eberhart, Elmer Eberhart, and Harold Eberhart. LaVerne was a school bus driver for the Edwardsville School District before going to work at Olin Industries where she retired from. She was an avid bowler for many years on various teams in the area. She also loved baking, specially making cakes. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. A graveside service will follow at St. James Cemetery in Edwardsville at 11:30 am with Rev. Benjamin Ball officiating. Condolences may be shared online at weberfuneralhome.com.
