Ronald Dolynn Lowry, age 71, devoted husband, father, papa, brother, and friend, passed away on February 22, 2023, after a courageous five-year battle with cancer. He was at home with his wife and family by his side. He was born on April 4, 1951, in Provo Utah to Lynn T. and Betty Muhlestein Lowry. He grew up in Idaho and Utah, spending summers at his grandparent's farm picking fruit and riding horses. He enjoyed his high school years playing church basketball, football, and wrestling and graduated from Orem High in 1969.
Ron served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Eastern States mission. After his return, he attended BYU where he met his sweetheart, Barbara Ellsworth. They were truly a match made in heaven and were married on March 31, 1973 in the Manti Temple. They were always together in heart and mind, a perfect complement to each other. They have been blessed with 6 children, 16 1/2 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Papa dearly loved his grandchildren and will be missed by all of them.
He had a great love for the outdoors, and especially enjoyed hiking, fishing and hunting with his sons, grandsons, and extended family.
Ron had a strong work ethic and magnetic personality which served him throughout his career. He was always an optimist and approached work with a glass half-full mentality. He was part-owner of Lowry Doors for over 20 years. During that time, he enjoyed serving in the Utah Valley Home Builders Association and being involved in the community. Using his construction knowledge and connections, he built four beautiful homes and became an expert at moving! In the latter half of his career, he co-founded a company that helped people build their own homes. He excelled at sales and was a top salesman for HBA Publications and PDC Phone Directories. He had an impressive talent for motivating and mentoring those he worked with, and his clients loved working with him.
Ron was a gifted people person. His love for the youth was immeasurable, and the many callings he had serving the youth throughout the years have forged friendships that have lasted a lifetime. His experiences serving twice as a YSA Bishop were a highlight of his life, and he was always willing to counsel with them. He had a great love for the temple and he considered serving as a temple worker with his wife one of his greatest blessings. His love for the gospel and his testimony of Jesus Christ will live on as he touched many lives with his service.
His life experiences will continue to be shared through his wife Barbara, along with his children, Andria Talley, Melinda Anter (Joe), Russ Lowry, Paul Lowry (Kristi), Jeff Lowry (Marissa), and Erica Harding (Shawn). His legacy will live on through his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the many more to come.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lynn and Betty Lowry, his father and mother-in-law Richard G. and Betty M. Ellsworth, and his son-in-law J. Blaine Talley.
Loving acknowledgment to all of Ron's treasured family and friends who have been a part of his spectacular life. Thank you to all the doctors and nurses who have helped care for him throughout his cancer journey.
