Ronald A. Mason, Sr., affectionately known to many as Ronnie, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, in
Peabody, MA. Born in
Salem, MA, on November 17, 1953, Ronnie was raised in West Peabody Massachusetts where he attended the Peabody school system and later raised a family.
Ronnie was the cherished son of the late Mary (Galvin) Mason and the late Norman "Jake" Mason. He grew up in a bustling household with his sisters Kathy, Gail, Linda, Margaret, and his brother Thomas Mason. Ronnie's legacy lives on through his four children, Melanie Constantino, Toni Mason, Ronald A. Mason, Jr., and Vincent Mason, all of whom he loved tremendously, along with his grandson, Thomas Templeton. Ronnie's numerous nieces and nephews also held a special place in his heart.
At the tender age of 17, Ronnie demonstrated his commitment to service by enlisting in the United States Navy. His time in the Navy instilled in him a sense of discipline and honor that he carried throughout his life. After being honorably discharged, Ronnie's entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his own construction business, Ramco Builders. His pride in his work was evident when, at the age of 27, he built a beautiful home for his family in West Peabody, one of his proudest accomplishments.
Ronnie later found a new calling as a tractor-trailer truck driver, a job that allowed him to explore new places while providing for his family. His hard work and dedication to his profession were commendable, and he was respected by all who knew him in the industry.
Family life was Ronnie's greatest joy, and he took immense pleasure in watching his sons play Peabody Pop Warner and high school football. He was a familiar face on the sidelines, cheering on his boys with enthusiasm and pride. Ronnie was also a man who cherished simple pleasures. He enjoyed playing cards with friends, a pastime that was often accompanied by laughter and good-natured competition. He also enjoyed a tranquil fishing trip, whether it be at the Ipswich River or deep-sea fishing.
A true fan of the King of Rock and Roll, Ronnie's admiration for Elvis Presley was well-known. His collection of memorabilia and the sounds of Elvis' music were a testament to his lifelong fandom.
He was the type of man that would give anybody, even a stranger, the shirt off his back. When he was in his twenties, he came across a car accident where the car had caught fire. Without hesitation, he risked his own life as he pulled a woman from the burning vehicle. He carried this compassionate nature throughout his life. Later, he took on the role of caretaker for his aging mother; something he was happy to do. He cherished every moment that he was able to spend with his mother, whom he loved dearly and considered to be the best mother that anyone could ever have.
Ronnie's sense of humor, hearty laugh, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will be cherished forever.
As we say goodbye to Ronnie, we celebrate a life full of love, filled with many adventures, hard work, and treasured moments. Ronnie's story is one of a life that exemplified courage, and devotion to those he held dear. We honor his memory and the indelible mark he left on our hearts. Rest in peace, Ronnie
