Ronald Matz Obituary
Ronald Matz, age 79, passed away on January 6, 2026.
Ron was the beloved husband of Terri, whom he married on April 19, 1997. After meeting, the two naturally became perfect dance partners, sharing a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Ron was also a devoted stepfather to six.
After graduating high school, Ron proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1969. During his service, he spent two years in Vietnam and was honorably discharged with the rank of E4. Following his military service, Ron remained deeply committed to his fellow veterans. He was active for many years with Disabled Veterans, Vietnam Veterans Chapter 154, and Fraser's VFW. He also generously volunteered with the Marine Deputies of Lake St. Clair.
Ron worked for over 40 years as a local machinist, a career that reflected his strong work ethic, mechanical skill, and sharp mind. He was a lifelong learner who enjoyed reading history, expanding his mechanical knowledge, and exploring photography.
An avid outdoorsman, Ron found great joy in hunting deer-including archery hunting-and fishing in Lake St. Clair and Lake Huron. He and Terri loved traveling together, often riding Ron's Harley with friends. Arizona became a favorite destination, where they happily traded Michigan winters for warmer weather. The couple also enjoyed camping of all kinds, with Michigan's Upper Peninsula holding a special place in their hearts.
Ron will be remembered for his intelligence, curiosity, dedication to service, and the meaningful connections he made throughout his life.
