William Richard Nolan

January 1951 – March 2026

William Richard Nolan, of Michigan, passed away in March 2026 at the age of 75.

Born in January 1951 in Detroit, Michigan, William was the son of the late William and Eleanore Nolan. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Joann and Nancy; and his brother-in-law, Wiley McCoy.

William is survived by his beloved wife, Diane, with whom he shared 45 wonderful years of marriage. He was the proud father of Carrie and Billy (Sara). William was a devoted grandfather to Jameson and Stella, and even held a special place in his heart for the family's grand-dog, Lucy. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Mike; his nieces Erin (Andy) and Nolan; his nephew Kevin (Sarah); and his cherished great-nieces and nephew, Riley, Will, Giada, and Fiona.

William loved spending time with his family in Cedarville, Michigan, where they vacationed for more than 45 years. Those trips were filled with fishing, visits to the Soo Locks, time on Mackinac Island, and enjoying the water and the peaceful, slower pace of life that the area provided.

At home, William enjoyed relaxing while watching the History Channel and had a particular interest in wooden boats. A devoted Detroit sports fan, he especially enjoyed watching the Lions, Detroit Tigers, and the Red Wings. In his younger years, William played football, hockey, and baseball and treasured memories of pickup games with friends. He was also proud to have played on the American Airlines hockey team, where he once had the opportunity to play against hockey legend Gordie Howe.

Above all, William treasured time spent with his family, and his greatest joy was being with his beloved grandchildren.

Visitation will take place Sunday, March 15, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home, 13650 E. Fifteen Mile Road, Sterling Heights, Michigan.

A Funeral Service will be held Monday, March 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m., at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 5005 Chicago Road, Warren, MI 48092.
