Ronald Metty Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lewin Funeral Home - Fremont from May 27 to May 28, 2025.
Ronald Arthur Metty, Sr. passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025 at the age of 82. Ron was born on a farm outside of Currie, MN, January 2, 1943 to Arthur and Josephine(Boudreau) Metty. He was the middle of three sons, older brother, Cleo(Pat) and younger brother, Lyle(Arlene). He graduated from Immaculate of Mary Catholic Church in 1960, where he had faithfully served as an altar boy.

Ron's fondest memories were of breaking ponies with his father, Art, riding the up and down the hillside to saddle train them. He spent long happy days roaming the countryside on his favorite horse, Scout, and sharing time and laughter with his cousins.

Ron and his wife, Jeanne moved their three children from Stillwater, MN to Appleton, WI in 1980. They purchased Heckert Shoe Company, creating a new life for their family. Ron enjoyed being an entrepreneur in the shoe industry, retiring in 2010 to their country home in Weyauwega. He loved to garden, tend the forest and entertain--enjoying happy days with friends and loved ones. He cherished golf, watching westerns and the Minnesota Vikings, and family holidays. In retirement, he and Jeanne spent winters snow birding in Gulf Shores, AL, soaking up the sun and coastal peace.

Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Jeanne; his daughter Carmen, Minneapolis and granddaughters, Sofie and Camille; a son, Rusty(Renee), Fox Island, WA and grandsons, Noah and Cain; and granddaughter,Selah; a daughter, Kay(Dale)Reinhard, Sherwood, and granddaughters, Sydney Mae and Erica(Carlos)Abellos , and great-grandson, Anderson; two brothers, Cleo and Lyle, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

"It was like we were both back in older times...He rode past me and he had his blanket wrapped around him and his head down, and when he rode past I could see he was carrying fire in a horn the way people used to do, and I could see the horn from the light inside of it. About the color of the moon. And in dream, I knew, that was going on ahead and that he was fixing to make a fire out there in all that dark and all that cold and I knew that wheneverI got there he would be there." Cormac McCarthy

Ron rides ahead now, carrying the warmth of his love and the light of his memories, waiting for us just beyond the bend.

A Christian Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 206 E. Badger St., Waupaca. Rev. Dr. Charles Tews will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church Saturday, from 9:30 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
