Ronald Minyard Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Coker-Mathews Funeral Home from Oct. 27 to Oct. 28, 2022.
Ronald Eugene Minyard, 70, of Greenville, Texas, passed away October 22, 2022 at Tanner Health Systems in Carrollton, Georgia. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, October 28, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ronald was born December 5, 1951 in Ft. Worth, Texas to Oben Eugene and Patricia Agnew Minyard. He graduated from Sunset High School in 1970. Ronald married Madelene Kovar on January 19, 1973 in Mesquite, Texas.

At a young age, he worked doing paper routes to help his family. Then he worked in construction until he became a union master electrician at Hargrove Electric for many years and then GEUS for over 20 years. He even had his own electrical business, Bent Tree Electric for many years, all while being a cattle rancher.

He was a hard worker often working from sun up till sun down. He never met a stranger who he did not create a friendship with. He was always there to lift a helping hand to family, friends and strangers.

He loved spending his summers with his Grandad and cousins as a child. He had a love of traveling and helping other. Ronald was a dedicated husband, provider and caretaker to his wife, Madelene, who he loved above all.

He was a very involved father to Michele, who always followed him around at a very young age, who supported her goals in showing horses in 4-H in school. He taught her to be independent so she knew how to take care of herself. Always a Daddy's Girl.

He was a good Pops to his only granddaughter Megan, even stepping in and doing father duties and was always there when needed.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Madelene of 49 and a half years; daughter, Michelle Minyard and husband, Ryan; granddaughter, Megan; sister, Nelda Moates and husband, Donnie; and brother, Randy Minyard.

He leaves behind a huge family from Oklahoma, brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Janis Kovar; sister-in-law, Marsha Wood; as well as immediate family, nephew, Kelly Kovar and wife, Lauren, and their children, Kennedy Kovar, Kenzi Kovar, Luke Kovar, nephew, Kyle Kovar and wife, Rachael, and their children, Raylee and Russell, nephew, Justin Minyard, nephew, Cooper Wood and many friends.

When Michelle and Ryan became a couple in 2015, he gained another granddaughter, Chasity Haley as well as three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Avery and Octavia. He enjoyed Ryan's family get togethers.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Steve Minyard and nephew, Aaron Minyard.

Pallbearers will be Robert Carter, Al Davis, Troy Reimer, Jason Roberts, Steve Shaw and Kevin Warren.

So sorry for your loss. Steve was a very smart man who was always very helpful to us in ranching. He became a good friend and will be missed. RIP Steve.
