Ronald L. “Bill” Moreland, age 78, of Belle, passed away Friday, October 3, 2025 at Stonebridge of Owensville.

Bill was born February 24, 1947, in Lanes Prairie, a son to the late Grady and Nellie (Chambers) Moreland.

He was a longtime member of the Belle First Christian Church and a 1965 graduate of Belle High School. Following high school, Bill proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.

On June 29, 1997 he was united in marriage to Janet Herron in the mountains of Pine Colorado. Jan survives of their home near Belle.

Bill had been employed at both the Belle middle school and the Belle high school as a janitor for over 10 years and also worked at ABB in Jefferson City as well as the Callaway nuclear plant.

Bill loved anything cowboy. From his belt buckles to anything with a cowboy theme he could find at antique stores, Bill collected them. He liked to go on trail rides in Eminence when he was younger and enjoyed sitting on his back deck watching his horses graze when he got older. He enjoyed watching Lonesome Dove as well as many other westerns and reading his Western Horseman Magazines. Bill was a joker with a very sharp wit and enjoyed sitting around the liars table at JJ’s or the Dinner Belle drinking coffee and solving the worlds problems. He loved taking gravel road trips in “Old White” which was his old Chevy truck but most of all he loved the times spent with his family. Bill will be missed greatly by his family and those that knew him

In addition to his wife, Jan, Bill is survived by: five children, Windy Barbarick and her husband Shawn of Belle, Justin Moreland of Belle, Megan Seymour and her husband Leroy of Belle, Jenny Hofherr and her husband John of Calistoga, Ca, and Kristen James and her husband Tom of Aurora, Co; eleven grandchildren, Courtney, Jacob, Garret, Hunter, Natalie, Kaitlyn, Aleah, Ella, Brok, Allie, and Emmit; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Bert Moreland and his wife Myrna of Bend, Or; and his favorite horse of 33 years, Tex as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, George Kelly III, a brother Gene Moreland and two sisters Dorothy Smith and Betty Hayes.

A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at the First Christian Church in Belle from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow at the church beginning at 12:00 p.m. with full military honors.
