Ronald C. “Newt” NEWTON, 81, of Scio, NY, died Friday, November 7, 2025 in UR Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville.
Born April 13, 1944, in Portland, OR, he was the son of Leslie E. and Arlene Grinolds Newton. A graduate of Scio Central School, he served in the US Air Force. Ron was employed as a truck driver by Southern Tier Express for 40 years. He was a member of the Coven Motorcycle Club and was a car enthusiast traveling the area for car shows and his car clubs. He also enjoyed hunting, tinkering on his cars, collecting guns, and telling stories.
Surviving are: his longtime girlfriend, Laura Ullman of Scio and her children, Brandy (CJ) Witherow of Florence, SC, Bryon Ullman of Allegany, and Brad (Ryan) Ullman of Allegany; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his former girlfriend, Diane Beardsley of Wellsville and her children that he helped raise, Randy Beardsley, Kim Beardsley, and Melissa (Chuck Mielke) Beardsley; grandchildren, Kali, Colten, and Summer; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy (Ed) Hunter of Cincinnati, OH; a niece, Angela (Christopher) Haskell; a grandniece, Natalie; and a grandnephew, Connor. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a nephew, Brian Hunter.
Friends may call at Olney-Foust & Embser Funeral Homes & Cremation, 34 West State St., Wellsville on Friday, November 14, 2025 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM and on Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM, with funeral services following at 12:00 PM. Burial will be in Yorks Corners Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
