Ronald "Ronny" Palacios passed away October 14, 2024 at the age of 77 with his loved ones beside him. He was born on August 16, 1947 in Victoria, Texas to Valdomero and Eloisa Palacios. He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother David and his brother Richard.
Ronny is survived by his beloved wife, Janet Mendez Palacios, with whom he shared 58 wonderful years of marriage, his daughter Veronica and granddaughter Danielle Rae. He also leaves his sister Linda Palacios, Mary Garcia and Sally Camacho and husband, as well as countless nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
Ronny grew up in Victoria, Texas as one of 6 siblings. He attended Victoria high school where he played in the school band. During the summer of his seventh grade year, he met Janet Mendez, a young girl visiting her family. That summer encounter sparked a love that would last a lifetime. After years of courtship,
Ronny and Janet married on September 18, 1966. Just nine months after they became newlyweds, Ronny was drafted into the US Army during the Vietnam era. Wounded in combat, he later returned home to Fort Sam Houston, where he received an honorable discharge. He carried the pride of being a Vietnam veteran throughout his life, finding strength in his service and the bond he shared with fellow veterans.
Family was the most important thing to Ronny, and his daughter Veronica was his pride and joy. He did everything he could to make her happy, instill good values, and loved her deeply. When his granddaughter Danielle was born, his heart burst with joy and overflowing love. She was his "angel love"and he would do anything and everything for her. He cherished every moment he spent with her.
Ronny loved gatherings with family and friends. Whether it was barbecues, swimming, birthdays, or church functions; these were his happiest times. Every anniversary, he and Janet would celebrate in Port Aransas, where he relished the water and the breeze. After retiring, they moved to Magnolia Beach and bought a home in Alamo Beach, where they lived for 18 years.
Ronny loved the outdoors and enjoyed having family and friends over for barbecues. He took great pride in keeping his yard and home to perfection. Taking friends and family on Pontoon boat rides, swimming and fishing filled his days. He loved driving up and down the beach on his golf cart and teaching his granddaughter to drive it as well. Fishing at the crabbing bridge, and taking countless trips in their RV bought him immense joy.
Ronny's charismatic nature made him a cherished figure among his loved ones. He had a natural ability to connect with people which contributed to a remarkable career in sales. No matter the product or industry Ronny could sell it, not just because he was skilled, but because people trusted him. His relationships were built on honesty, warmth, and humor.
Above all Ronny's greatest joy was his family. His nieces and nephews and extended family looked up to him, not only as "Uncle Ron" but as a mentor and friend. His presence, his strength, his compassion, and at times when appropriate, his gruffness, helped shape and build their character. He never missed an opportunity to share a laugh, offer advice, or lend a helping hand. Whether at a family dinner, a fishing trip, or a simple conversation in the garage or screen porch, Ronny's presence made every moment special. His life was a testament to love, loyalty and resilience - a legacy that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be remembered fondly and deeply missed.
A visitation from 5-8pm and celebration of life at 6:30pm is scheduled for October 27, 2024 at Mission Park Funeral Chapel South in San Antonio Texas. The graveside service will follow on October 28, 2024 at 10:30am at Fort Sam Houston national cemetery.
