Ronald J. Patun

Ronald Joseph Patun, 89, of Latrobe, passed away peacefully with his wife and four children by his side on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025. Born and raised in Chicago, Ron was proud of his Slovak heritage. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy; children, Susan (Bernard), Jennifer (John), John (Jouney), and Michael (Christine); grandchildren, Jacob, Megan, Antoine, Nicolas, and Luna; great-grandson, Oliver; sister-in-laws, brother-in-law, their spouses, and children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Steven "Jeff" and Ann Patun; brother, Stephen "Pat" Patun; and many other loved ones. Ron earned both chemical engineering and mathematics degrees from the University of Illinois and an MBA from Northwestern University. He was employed for over 40 years at BorgWarner, Kennametal, and CTC. During his time at Kennametal, he was assigned to Zurich, Switzerland, where he successfully organized and restructured operations across multiple European sites. A man of deep faith, Ron was active at St. Vincent Basilica Parish delivering communion to the homebound, participating in ministries, and tending the gardens at the church and Winnie Palmer Nature Preserve. An avid sportsman, Ron enjoyed bowling, hiking, skiing, biking, tennis, yoga, and running in marathons throughout his life. Known for his kindness, wit, and strength, he leaves a legacy of love, service, and faith. Family and friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2025, at LOPATICH-BRINKER FUNERAL HOME LLC, 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 11, 2025, at St. Vincent Basilica. Interment will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery.
