Ronald Frances Petree, (Pete) born on November 30, 1949, in Kirksville, Missouri. After fighting cancer for the past 3+ years. passed away peacefully at his home on March 1, 2025, in Orlando, Florida, at the age of 75.
Ron is survived by his wife Carolyn of 45 years, his daughter, Jana and Son in Law Rick Hyman: Grandchildren; Jaymie Bryant (Tucker), and Sophie Jackson, Ava, Alivia and Beau Hyman. Also a niece, nephew, great niece and great nephews.
Ron graduated from Kirksville Senior High, class of 1967. While in school he participated in FFA having farmed with his grandparents. He worked over 20 years at Florsheim Factory as a shoe cutter. He then worked for 10 years in construction and 10 years as a courier for LabCorp traveling many areas around NE Missouri before retirement. Over the years he sold used cars and often attended Kirksville, Moberly, Quincy and Columbia auctions.
He enjoyed his friends, having many nights on the back patio laughing and figuring out life's many problems. The memories they share will forever be in our hearts knowing those simple days were the fullest of moments. He was strong, humble, kind, patient and down to earth. He bravely battled cancer which was similar to how he navigated life. He enjoyed everyday things like westerns, game shows, news, riding his mower, and iced tea. He spent many days fixing used cars and giving new life to older things around the house. The kids enjoyed his announcer's voice as they did stunts on their bicycles always giving everyone entertainment. He was so very proud of his family and always gave a helping hand or simply listened to any problems. Ron appreciated and treasured his closest buddies that made trips to Florida to see him or spent an hour or so on the phone each week to fill him in on life in Kirksville as well as talking about memories they shared.
His family greatly appreciates the support and condolences received during this difficult time. The love of friends has lifted their hearts. Ron will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
