Ronald J. Plaehn

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ron Plaehn, age 82, of Chicago, Illinois, who died peacefully on December 1st, 2024, at home. Born on November 23rd, 1942, in Chicago, he was the beloved son of Art and Ruth, nee Trudeau, Plaehn. Ron was a devoted husband to Genevieve, nee Dusik, with whom he shared a loving marriage for 60 years. He was the proud father of Scott (Therese) and Mark (Kristen), treasured grandfather of Eric (Emily), Jessie (Nate) Wolfe, Chuck, Matthew, Mitchell, and Haylee, and great Boompa to Roman. He was a loving brother-in-law to Gloria (Al) Gardella, and Francine (John) Litterio, twin brother of the late Don (Sue), and uncle to Dave (Erin) Gardella, Greg Gardella, Jana Gardella, Justin Litterio, Michael (Mona) Litterio, Sandlin (Banks) Hunter, and Elizabeth (Guy) Bowman. His family was the center of his world, and he was always at his children's and grandchildren's activities, games, and recitals. Ron worked at RR Donnelley for 42 years where he was respected by his colleagues and admired by his community. He then worked at Ridge Country Club in Chicago where his enthusiasm for the game of golf was contagious, and he built lasting friendships with everyone he met. Ron will be forever remembered for his unwavering love for his family and his sense of humor. His warm spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
