Joseph Terrell Obituary

Joseph William Terrell passed away on August 19, 2025, surrounded by his family at his Palos Heights home. He was 72.

Born in Mount Greenwood, Chicago, on October 1, 1952, Joe was a loyal and lifelong fan of all things Chicago – especially his alma mater, Brother Rice High School. His dedication to the school was unwavering, earning him a place in the Brother Rice Alumni Hall of Fame and the title of "Man of the Year" in 2010 for his work with the Father's Club.

Joe was a man who gave his time and energy to his community, serving in the National Guard and leading youth through his tireless work with Oak Lawn Baseball and the Boy Scouts of America. But above all, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jane (Weir); a brother, James (Stacie); his two sons, Joseph (Kate) and Ryan (Candie); and grandchildren Mia, Zoey, Frankie Jane, Reid, Benjamin, and Ava. He will be dearly missed by his many nieces and nephews. The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Brown, for her dedicated care and support for both Joe and Jane.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, James and Bernice Terrell, and his brothers, John, Thomas, and Bernard. To his family and countless friends, he was simply "da best" – a testament to his kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering spirit.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society in Joe's name are appreciated.

All those whom Joe touched throughout his life are invited to join Joe's family for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at The Longford Pub, 13813 S. Cicero Ave. in Crestwood.
