Thomas Joseph Quinn Jr. passed away on August 19, 2025, surrounded by family and friends, at

the age of 72.

Thomas is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Cheryl; beloved children Laura (Herbert) Keeler, Kathleen Quinn, and Carolyn Quinn; and cherished grandchildren Julia (Nate) Lewis, Matthew, and Sarah Keeler. He is also survived by siblings Peg (late David) Masino, Kathy (late Steve) Napoli, and brother-in-law Kurt Olsson. He also lives on through

many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandson Ryan Keeler and siblings: Mary Claire Olsson, twin brother

Jimmy, and younger brother Michael.

Thomas grew up on the South Side of Chicago, settling in Beverly with his family where he lived out his days among lovely neighbors who became dear friends. Devoted husband and father, he was also a dedicated, preserving Amtrak employee for over 42 years and talked about trains until the end. He had a love for reading the newspapers every day, keeping himself well-informed on the world around him. Avid Chicago Bulls fan, he was a Cubs fan until they disappointed him too many times and then became a loyal White Sox fan. His smart, quick wit and relaxed demeanor made him a friend to all who met him. He will be sorely missed, remembered fondly, and loved forever.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are appreciated to Tunnel to Towers Foundation https://t2t.org

I knew Tom well from the old CUS days of the 70s and 80s. He was a trooper at all times and a good railroader to the bone. He had a lust for life and was always upbeat in an industry that could get the best if you. His efforts and his friendship will not be forgotten. J A Anderson.
