Gilbert "Gil" Langlois, age 83, late of Mokena, IL.
Proud U.S. Air Force Veteran. Beloved husband of the late Janet (Duffy) Langlois. Loving father of Gina (Jeffrey) Janas and Gilbert Langlois II (Catherine Oleson). Devoted grandfather of Jeffrey T. (Kayla) Janas, Jenna Janas (Jaden Gardner) and Owen Langlois, and numerous sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws, adored nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister.
Gil grew up in Evergreen Park, IL and attended Brother Rice High School. After marrying the love of his life, Gil thrived in his career, first at AT&T and later at Oldsmobile, where he earned numerous accolades for his dedication and excellence. His passion for automobiles blossomed into a lifelong enthusiasm, reflected in a remarkable collection of classic and NASCAR die-cast cars. A true pioneer, Gil embraced online shopping well before it became mainstream, always on the lookout for rare and meaningful additions to his growing collection.
An avid NASCAR follower and a loyal Chicago Bears fan, Gil had a tradition all his own - listening to radio broadcasts while watching the games, savoring the experience in his unique way.
A proud Air Force veteran, Gil was recognized with multiple commendations during his service. His meticulous nature, discipline, and unwavering attention to detail were hallmarks throughout his life. These qualities shone brightest in the devoted care he gave to "his girl," Janet. For over a decade, he lovingly attended to her needs with quiet patience and steadfast devotion, a testament to the deep love and unbreakable bond they shared.
Gil found joy in simple pleasures-whether painting or pinstriping, he was most at peace in the comfort of home. Though a man of few words, when he spoke you had to listen and then he spoke volumes. When he smiled or laughed it was utterly infectious. When he hugged, he hugged big and meant every second. Gil's quiet strength, loyalty and unwavering love for his family left an impact that will forever be remembered.
Memorial Gathering to honor Gil will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2025, 4:00-8:00 PM at Vandenberg Funeral Home, 19604 Wolf Road, Mokena, IL. 60448. Inurnment with full Military Honors will be held privately at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery
