Ronald J. Popke, age 77 of New London, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Central Wisconsin Veteran's Home in King. Ronald was born on July 19, 1947 in New London to the late George and Katherine (Thiesen) Popke. He married Janice Riehl on May 15, 1971 in New London. Ronald served his country in the US Navy in the Vietnam War as a river boat patrolman. He was a two-time Purple Heart recipient. Hunting and fishing were among his favorite pastimes. Ronald was a member of the Fox Valley Muzzle Loader Club, the American Legion and VFW. He was very fond of winter and could be found riding the trails on his Polaris. Ronald also polished his cars to perfection and loved his Harleys. Truly enjoying the beauty of nature and the great outdoors, Ronald loved taking walks in the woods.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Janice; children, Ryan Popke and Renee Metherell; grandchildren, Danielle, Alex, Hailee (Mitchell) Dey, Emily (Kaine) Herter, Austin, Asher, Aydin and Amara and six great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his siblings, John Popke (Joy) and Karen Prindle, and brothers-in-law, Steven (Ann) Riehl and Charles Riehl.
In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Pankow.
The Funeral Service for Ronald will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London with Rev. William Heiges officiating. The visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Floral Hill Cemetery, New London.
