Ronald Pugh Obituary

Published by Halley Olsen Murphy Funerals & Cremations - Lancaster on Feb. 1, 2013.
Ronald Brian Pugh Born Jan 26, 1948, in Huntington Park, CA and passed away Feb 1, 2013, in Palmdale, CA, after fighting a courageous nine month battle with his illness. A resident of Antelope Valley since 1977, he and his wife had recently moved to their dream home in Oakhurst, CA. Ron treasured his family and was a loving and supportive husband, father, and grandfather. Whether it was a 4H project, horse show, sporting event, concert or recital, he always found time for each of his children and grandchildren in their hobbies and activities. He especially enjoyed going to Laughlin and boating on the Colorado River with family and friends. A lifelong motorsports enthusiast, he enjoyed off road dirt bikes and motocross racing, restoring his '47 Olds street rod and attending car shows. His absolute favorite activity was as owner of R&K racing, in which he and his daughter raced NASCAR mini stocks at local tracks in cars #58 and #85. Ron was a long time employee of So CA Gas Company, retiring in 2005 after a 33 year career. After moving to Oakhurst, he joined Oakhurst Kiwanis club, and also enjoyed being one of the old timers having coffee each morning at Raley's Market. Ron is survived by Karen, his wife of 43 years; daughter Brenda Pugh; daughter Stephanie Bricker and her husband Michael; brother Dennis Pugh and his wife Rilla; sister Marcia Chaney and her husband Ed; grandchildren Kimmy Pugh, Sascha Bricker, and Simon Bricker; numerous aunts, cousins, nieces/nephews, and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Helen Pugh, his brother- in- law Donald Messerle, and his grandson Donny Pugh, all of whom will be waiting to greet him in Heaven. In lieu of flowers, the donations in his name may be made to the Scleroderma Foundation (www.scleroderma.org). A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Feb 9, 2013, at St Pancratius Catholic Church, 3519 St. Pancratius Place, Lakewood, CA 90712. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 5835 W. Slauson Av, Culver City, CA.
