Ronald Ramage Obituary

Published by Legacy from Sep. 3 to Sep. 5, 2025.
Ronald Wallace Ramage, 82, of The Villages, Florida, formerly of Northeast Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025 in Gainesville, Florida, surrounded by loved ones.

Ron was born on October 9, 1942 in Ravenna, Ohio. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from March 7, 1961 until December 22, 1964. After his service he carried the same sense of dedication into civilian life, working in many professions through the years. He spent much of his career as a CDL truck driver and continued working full time until the age of 81, when he finally retired.

Ron was known for his strong work ethic, meticulous care for his home and yard, and his love of tinkering and fixing things. He rarely sat still and always had a project in motion. He loved boating, being outdoors, and was happiest when spending time with family and friends. He is remembered for his warm and infectious smile that could light up any room. Outgoing and friendly, he never met a stranger. His ability to make others feel seen and welcomed was truly special. A trusted friend to many, he built lasting connections wherever he went and left behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and genuine care.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 39 years, Beverly Ramage; his sister, Sharon Davis (William); his children, Luann Morrison, Ernie Hartman (Sheri), Scott Hartman (Daleen), Scott Ramage (Denise), and Shawna Benson (Gordon); as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Gertrude Ramage, and his brother, Jerrie Ramage (Becky).

In place of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation or to a children's charity of your choice, in honor of Ron's love for family.

To Ron's family,

Your obituary gave an exemplary summary of Ron's life and ways. Ron worked for me at D+S Distribution Services and was always an encourager to me everyday as a driver, dispatcher and supervisor. He always looked at the positive side of all situations and this was never easy in the trucking industry with our daily challenges.

Ron Always made me feel more important than I ever was, what an encourager, dedicated worker, such a joyful soul and touched lives with just his smile and friendly greetings.

If you knew Ron, experienced his heart felt compassion, his dedication to whatever cause was on his heart and you experienced his heart felt attitude of joy then you would be just like me. Touched by Ron in a way you will never forget. I'm one of the lucky people who got to experience the influence of Ron Ramage (Doc) in my life. Thanks Ron for touching my life in such a profound way.
